There has been no change in lives of these Vaddera workers since 50 years. The residents face extreme cases of poverty such as lack of electricity, lack of medication, scarcity of drinking water, lack of employment and lack of education. They are also prone to land slides, attacks by poisonous reptiles from the wilderness and often have their shelters damaged by heavy rains and winds. The Vaddera populous in Toroor have been facing these crisis since the dawn of their migration to this land. while the surrounding areas have transformed from forests to bustling towns with high raised buildings, the Vaddera camp is still a mere camp despite being older than the town itself. Jeripeti Chandrakala, interacts with the residents of the camp and lends a ear to their sorrows and tragedy and comforts them by providing them with hope and aiding them financially, promising them that the sun shall shine on them again when they get the "ST status".
